The <\/span>Journal of Advanced Nursing<\/span><\/i> has published the clinical trial protocol of the PainReApp study carried out by the Observatory of Pain. This is a long-term <\/span>randomized controlled trial<\/b> that investigates the <\/span>impact of a mHealth system <\/b>in patients with chronic pain of different origins.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The mHealth system that the observatory\u2019s team is betting on is a <\/span>physical exercise program monitored<\/b> through a mobile application for <\/span>people with chronic pain<\/b> that pretends (PRETENDE) to improve the quality of life of these patients.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Checking the effectiveness<\/b> of the system and <\/span>evaluating the advantages<\/b> of its implementation compared to the usual <\/span>means<\/span> based on the intensity of pain, quality of life, levels of anxiety and\/or depression and the quality of sleep of these patients is the <\/span>main objective<\/b> of this study. <\/span><\/p>\n

To do this, it is intended to measure the impact that the use of the PainReApp app has on <\/span>adherence to the program<\/b> by creating two groups: a <\/span>control group<\/b>, which has all the information about the intervention in paper format, and an <\/span>experimental group <\/b>which counts with the app for the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the program. <\/span><\/p>\n

To carry out this study, the Observatory of Pain works with the collaboration of the <\/span>Chronic Pain and Rehabilitation Unit<\/b> of the Puerta del Mar University Hospital, in charge of the selection of the participants. <\/span><\/p>\n

In total, the sample amounts to 300 people with three different chronic conditions: low back pain, fibromyalgia and diabetic neuropathic pain which are also divided into the two groups previously mentioned. The intervention has a total duration of <\/span>6 months<\/b> with a follow-up at <\/span>4, 12 and 24 weeks<\/b> in addition to the informative session that is carried out at the beginning of it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At the observatory, we are very happy with the publication of this protocol as it lays the foundations for one of the most <\/span>ambitious projects<\/b> that we are currently carrying out and from which we hope to draw decisive and hopeful conclusions to continue <\/span>improving the quality of life <\/b>of patients with chronic pain.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
