This prize, which is awarded annually to the best doctoral theses presented in each area of knowledge, is an honorary mention that will be included in the academic record of the winner.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our colleague<strong> Helena De Sola Perea<\/strong> has received this recognition in the area of Health Sciences for her thesis <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/observatoriodeldolor.com\/en\/sobresaliente-cum-laude-para-nuestra-companera-helena-de-sola-perea\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Prevalence and associated factors of the use of opioids in the treatment of chronic non-cancer pain. Perspective of the general Spanish population and the experience of patients<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;, directed by Dr. Inmaculada Failde Mart\u00ednez and Dr. Alejandro Salazar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This thesis also has numerous communications to congresses as well as 4 published articles, three of which are located in Q1 journals.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>A Cum Laude thesis<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Presented on 7 July 2020, Helena De Sola Perea&#8217;s thesis addresses the different aspects and consequences derived from the use of opioid treatment in recent years in our country, and analyses &#8211; thanks to the use of different types of methodologies &#8211; the prevalence of the <strong>use of opioid treatment in patients with chronic pain<\/strong> as well as the evolution of mortality in Spain related to the use of opioids. For all these reasons, it is not surprising that the members of the examining board decided to award our colleague the highest possible grade: &#8220;Outstanding Cum Laude&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We are very happy for the <strong>recognition of the effort and good work<\/strong>.
