On Thursday, June 15, 2023, our collaborator Jenifer Palomo Osuna,<\/strong> a General Health Psychologist, successfully defended her doctoral thesis titled<\/strong> “Cognitive Function in Type 2 Diabetic Patients with Diabetic Neuropathic Pain: Its Relationship with Mood Disorders, Anxiety, and Sleep Disorders.” T<\/em>his work was supervised by Dr. Inmaculada Failde Mart\u00ednez and Dr. Mar\u00eda \u00c1ngeles Due\u00f1as Rodr\u00edguez, and has been awarded the distinction of “Cum Laude.” <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The presentation and defense of the doctoral thesis<\/strong> took place in a hybrid format (in-person and online) at the Faculty of Nursing and Physiotherapy of the University of C\u00e1diz. The examination committee was composed of Dr. Luis Salvador Carulla, Professor of Public Health at the University of Canberra (Australia); Dr. Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 Santi Cano, Associate Professor in the Department of Nursing and Physiotherapy (C\u00e1diz); and Dr. Mar\u00eda Dolores Lanzarote, Associate Professor in the Department of Personality, Assessment, and Psychological Treatment (Seville).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

An underexplored topic in diabetes mellitus with diabetic neuropathic pain (DNP): Its impact on cognitive function <\/b><\/p>\n

The thesis, which has received international recognition<\/strong> and consists of a compilation of three articles, examines the relationship between cognitive function and diabetic neuropathy with and without DNP, as well as other clinical and sociodemographic factors that are associated with it. It also explores these differences by gender.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout its development, the thesis has been presented at conferences and published in prominent journals such as Expert Review of Neurotherapeutics, Scientific Reports, and the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
