The XX Congress of the Spanish Pain Society (SED)<\/strong> took place last May, from Wednesday the 29th to Friday the 31st, at the Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones in the city of Le\u00f3n. During this event, national and international experts, as well as young talents, gathered to share recent progress in pain research, advances in treatments, controversies, and the most well-documented evidence.<\/span><\/p>\n

As representatives of the Pain Observatory of the University of C\u00e1diz<\/strong>, Inmaculada Failde and Jos\u00e9 A. Moral traveled to the city of Le\u00f3n to present the results of the latest works of the Observatory.<\/span><\/p>\n

Professor Inmaculada Failde presented two communications: the first, \u201cPrevalence of sick leave due to Chronic Pain in the Spanish population. Results of the Barometer,\u201d is part of the \u201cPain Barometer\u201d project, carried out in collaboration with the Gr\u00fcnenthal Foundation, and aims to know the prevalence of sick leave in patients with chronic pain (CP)<\/strong> in the last year in Spain and the sociodemographic, clinical differences, and use of healthcare resources between those who needed sick leave and those who did not.<\/span><\/p>\n

The second, \u201cPain and quality of life in patients with Post-Acute COVID-19 Syndrome,\u201d aims to understand the sociodemographic characteristics, health problems, and quality of life of people suffering from Post-Acute COVID-19<\/strong> Syndrome (PACS). Additionally, Inmaculada Failde gave a lecture titled \u201cChronic Pain and Mental Comorbidity, Sleep Disorders and Cognitive Function in Men and Women,\u201d at the panel titled: \u201cAnalyzing the Interaction and Impact of Sex and Gender on Chronic Pain,\u201d which will be available on the SED website, along with an interview with Professor Failde.<\/span><\/p>\n

Professor Jos\u00e9 A. Moral, on his part, presented the results of the PainReApp study, under the title \u201cSelf-directed Physical Exercise in People with Chronic Low Back Pain: Mobile Application or Paper?\u201d This work aims to determine the efficacy of the PainReApp mobile application for prescribing a self-directed physical exercise program in people with chronic low back pain.The congress program combined presentations and round tables from various branches of knowledge<\/strong>, addressing pain from a multidisciplinary approach, with a common goal: the patient with pain and their environment.<\/span><\/p>\n
