The commitment to applied, rigorous, and impactful research once again places the Pain Observatory at the forefront of the academic field. Marta Moreno Ligero<\/strong>, physiotherapist, PhD in Health Sciences, and member of our research group, has been awarded the Special Mention of the \u201cIn Memoriam Professor Mart\u00edn Farf\u00e1n<\/strong>\u201d Award for an article derived from her doctoral thesis, focused on measuring functional interference in patients with chronic low back pain.<\/p>\n

The award-winning work, entitled \u201cPsychometric Properties of the Pictorial Pain Interference Questionnaire for Assessing Functional Interference in Chronic Low Back Pain,\u201d<\/em> examines the psychometric properties of a visual tool that enables a more precise assessment of how pain affects patients\u2019 daily lives<\/strong>. This contribution represents a significant advance both in clinical practice and research, as it offers deeper insight into the impact of persistent pain on functional ability.<\/p>\n

The award was presented on January 22 during the Solemn Opening Ceremony of the Academic Year 2026 of the Royal Academy of Medicine and Surgery, held at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of C\u00e1diz. Marta Moreno Ligero attended the event accompanied by her colleagues Jos\u00e9 Antonio Moral and Alejandro Salazar, with whom she shares research lines within the Observatory.<\/p>\n

In addition to filling all of us at the Pain Observatory with pride, this recognition highlights a research line that combines methodological rigor with direct clinical relevance.
