Furthermore, <strong data-start=\"540\" data-end=\"599\">32.3% of those affected were forced to leave their jobs<\/strong>, while <strong data-start=\"607\" data-end=\"640\">17.3% had to change positions<\/strong> because of their health issues. The most common conditions among those requiring sick leave were <strong data-start=\"738\" data-end=\"765\">lower back pain (66.2%)<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"770\" data-end=\"801\">muscle contractures (60.3%)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"804\" data-end=\"1174\">The study highlights that the impact of chronic pain extends far beyond physical health. Through a <strong data-start=\"903\" data-end=\"925\">mediation analysis<\/strong>, the researchers found that the need for sick leave is not only directly associated with a <strong data-start=\"1017\" data-end=\"1043\">poorer quality of life<\/strong>, but that this effect is further intensified by <strong data-start=\"1092\" data-end=\"1117\">greater pain severity<\/strong> and the presence of <strong data-start=\"1138\" data-end=\"1173\">anxiety and depression symptoms<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1176\" data-end=\"1562\">The findings underscore that <strong data-start=\"1205\" data-end=\"1261\">chronic pain is a major public health issue in Spain<\/strong>, with an overall prevalence of <strong data-start=\"1293\" data-end=\"1302\">25.9%<\/strong>.
