Last week, the 12th Congress of the European Pain Federation (EFIC) was held at the Convention Centre Dublin. The event, which took place from Wednesday, April 27 to Sunday, April 30, brought together a multitude of experts of the field of pain from different health branches who were able to exchange knowledge and the latest advances on pain and its comorbidities in the digital age.
On behalf of the Observatory of Pain, it was José A. Moral Muñoz and Alejandro Salazar who traveled to the Irish capital to show the rest of the attendees the latest work of the observatory. On the one hand, Alejandro Salazar presented the results of a study that analyzes the relationships between sleep, mood and cognitive function in patients with neuropathic pain. For his part, José A. Moral Muñoz was in charge of presenting two posters: one focused on the PainReApp project and another that summarizes a systematic review of mobile applications based on mhealth systems for chronic pain.
In addition to the oral presentations of the posters, the schedule of the meeting was completed with several plenaries, workshops and other activities that revolved around the central theme of this XII edition: the challenge of digitization in the management of pain and health. In this way, different topics such as pain and sleep, the search for new methodologies to relieve pain or the role of depression in patients with chronic pain were discussed, both in person and virtually.
In short, the multidisciplinary nature of the participants and the great diversity of sessions have characterized this XII edition of the congress, giving it a great impact and international relevance.
From the Observatory team we can only thank the organization and the rest of the participants of this 12th edition for their work and involvement and wish them luck for the next edition that will be celebrated in Budapest in September 2023. See you next year!
