New study for Post-COVID-19 Syndrome patients: COVIDReApp project begins

From the Pain Observatory, in collaboration with the Internal Medicine unit of the Hospital Universitario Puerta del Mar (HUPM), we would like to announce that we have already started the data collection of a new innovative project, using a mobile-assisted health system or mHealth, for people with Post-COVID-19 Syndrome or persistent COVID.

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a mobile application, COVIDReApp, based on physical exercise in people with symptoms of persistent COVID, with the ultimate goal of improving the quality of life and physical condition of those who have symptoms that limit daily life, such as dyspnoea or shortness of breath, fatigue, pain, anxiety, depression or cognitive impairment, among others.

This tool will allow study participants to follow a rehabilitation programme through an exercise routine adapted to the intensity of their symptoms and the stage of evolution of the training plan. To this end, a 24-week follow-up intervention will be carried out by comparing two groups: an experimental group, which will use the COVIDReApp system, and a control group, which will carry out the same intervention in the traditional way, in paper format.

Data collection from patients referred by the Internal Medicine unit of the Hospital Universitario Puerta del Mar, will begin this week.

We are very much looking forward to starting this new stage of the project and being able to collaborate in improving the health and wellbeing of all those people with this disease.

Therefore, we urge all those people who suffer from symptoms but who are not being monitored by the Post-COVID unit at HUPM to contact us. We will keep you informed about the evolution and results!
